    Overlock foot is SWEET!!!

Posted by Aileen Price on 10th Jul 2018

I'm new to sewing, and I really liked finished edges so I've seriously considered investing in a serger at some point. I read reviews from people who considered this foot an affordable alternative to a serger. I'm very happy with it. I like how the fabric is guided right through neatly. It's easy to use, and it fit my sewing machine well. So far, I'm in love! No serger for this lady for now :)

    Helps with alignment

Posted by Evadman on 10th Jul 2018

I used to use a regular foot for overlocking, but I got this foot to see if it would help me keep the seam straighter. This foot really helps. It is much easier to keep the seam straight using this foot than a regular foot or a walking foot. If you are doing more than a foot or two of overlock on a regular brother machine, get this foot. You will not be disappointed.

I just tried this Overlock foot and love it. The overcast stitches are so much more even than without it. I go slow - the needle does have to go back and forth over the vertical metal piece, but gives a very even stitch. The edge guide keeps the material very straight for a perfect edge. I have a viking 930. It fits fine.

    Handy foot

It works well enough but gets some getting used to. At first I thought that this foot didn't work with my machine. I own a brother xr3774. But eventually I got it to work and I am satisfied with the results. I am now able to have neat seams even without a serger. I have found that it helps to gently pull the fabric through especially at the beginning. For my machine, I set the length to F, Width to 5 and select stitch number 23.

I use this all the time.

I have a serger but I prefer this. I've been sewing forever and I make a lot! So putting out the money for a serger wasn't something that I had to think a lot about. I wish I would have thought more about it and not have bought it. I almost never use it. Not only is it a pain to set up and thread, I don't like the seams as well as a regular machine. I like to sew a regular seam, make any final adjustments needed, then trim the seam and use this foot with a zigzag stitch. I like being able to make adjustments...can't do that when serged. And I like how much better the seams come out using this method. This is a very useful item and I wouldn't want to be without one.

    Good, reliable overlock foot!

When my sewing machine tangled up a mass of thread and snapped the thin metal bar on the overlock foot that came with it, I went hunting for a sturdy replacement and found it here! I was worried this would be a cheap, no-name imitation but it came in Brother brand packaging and fit my Brother XR4040 machine perfectly! And when I say it fit perfectly, I mean it snapped in place instantly with no fuss and worked with the "default" overlock stitch settings without hitting the thin metal plate or bending the needle. It was literally snap-and-go PERFECT! Even better, it has a thicker metal piece than the flimsy one that came with the machine. After sewing dozens of items, the machine misfed again and put pressure on the foot in the same way it had before but this foot did not snap! I'm very, very pleased with it and it is holding up well even though I am putting it through its paces with a 300 piece project! I couldn't find the part info I needed to verify this was the right foot before I bought it so I'm going to list it here to hopefully help others: This SA135 foot is the same/fits the same as "Overcasting Foot "G" Part XE6305-001" listed in the manual that came with my machine. It DOES fit Brother XR4040 computerized sewing machines. It DOES have the letter "G" on it and come in blue Brother brand packaging.

    Fits Brother JX2517

Oh snap, this makes my little machine work almost like an expensive serger! Maybe one day I'll get one of those but until then, I'll use this overlock foot. It can sew a seam and overlock the seam allowance at the same time to prevent fraying. One thing to keep in mind is that to do this in one pass, you'll need to cut your seam allowance down to 1/4 inch as most seam allowances are 1/2 - 5/8 inch. But you certainly don't have to use it that way. It would just save you from having to change from one sewing foot to another. It fits my standard Brother JX2517. I'm going to get a lot of use out of this.

    Really works!

Posted by *Michelle* on 6th Jul 2018

I go back and forth between wanting a serger and being content with just my sewing machine. I took a chance on this presser foot because I could certainly get a lot of fabric for the price of a serger. I'm glad I did because this foot really works! I'm able to create a perfect overlock stitch with minimal effort. I have a Brother XL3750 machine with an included overlock stitch, but the machine has a tendency to pull the fabric to the left so my stitches stretch out from my trying to pull the fabric to the right to keep it on track. This foot has a little piece in the middle where the threads overlay and I think this is what takes the tension off of the fabric in order to keep everything distributed evenly. I may still get a serger someday, but this meets all of my needs for now!

    great product!

Posted by TruthfullySpeaking on 6th Jul 2018

This is a godsend! I am fairly new to sewing and was having great difficulty getting perfect seams and hems. No matter if I pinned or what! This foot has a guide on it that keeps fabric from going off course. Hems and finishes have never been faster and easier! A must have for perfectionists who don't want to spend money on a serger! I use a ce7070 prw and it fit fine!
