An Even Feed/Walking Foot is a moving feed system that holds and moves fabric between the presser foot's upper feed dog and the machine's lower feed dogs to better control difficult fabrics as well as multiple layers of fabric. The Brother SA140 Even Feed / Walking Foot is great for quilting and sewing, especially when matching prints or plaids or fabric drift are relevant concerns. Brother offers several walking feet which differ in the size of the feed dog, shank height, etc. Please check your manual or the machine listings on this website to find the correct walking foot to fit your machine. Walking feet are not for use with reverse or side-to-side sewing. Walking feet are also not for use with certain built-in stitches that require movement of the feed dogs in any direction other than forward.

I'm not sure if there is a better one out there
This is the first walking for I worked with. I'm not sure if there is a better one out there, but I sure hope so. It doesn't seem to be up to my standards.

Five Stars
this is expensive but a very useful tool when straight stitching a quilt.

This item arrived quickly as promised and fit my Brother ...
This item arrived quickly as promised and fit my Brother XR1355 machine perfectly. I was working on a baby quilt at the time and it made things so much easier. I would definitely order again from this company!

Great tool
Oh my! What a wonderful tool! I am new at quilting and have made several baby quilts with a regular foot, what a difference when you have the right tools.......quilt is smooth and stithes or much straighter.

Works perfectly with my Brother CS6000i
I don't know why I waited so long to buy this. The instructions for attaching it to my machine were clear and easy to follow, and the walking foot works perfectly. I have a Brother CS6000i, and this integrates seamlessly. On my second project the foot started to squeak with every stitch, and I gave it a good cleaning and removed some lint, and the foot went back to its quiet self.

Quilting Help!
Best sewing attachment I've ever bought. If you are going to do even small quilting projects, then this will help! I thought it expensive for my model Brother sewing machine, but I've used it more than enough to justify the cost. It will also let you see in reverse, which helps with quilting.

I'm walking! This makes sewing thick fabrics or multiple layers a cinch!
Takes a little work to figure out how to get it on the machine - but don't give up. It worked perfectly for my Brother Quilting Machine - XR3140! I can imagine I'll be using this little gadget quite often! (They should offer the quilting guide to be sold WITH the foot - it must be ordered separately - SA132. To be honest, it should come with it, not priced separately.)

Disappointed
Extremely disappointed, as I paid for the Brother quality. It barely made it through quilting the first of a set of 4 placemats. It was new and in the package when I received it, so I don't think it was a "refurbished" item. The walking foot that came with my machine lasted several years and this one didn't last 24 hours. It did not move the fabric evenly, it bunched up the fabric, and the stitches were distorted. I ended up using a regular presser foot to finish my project after I spent a great deal of time removing the distorted stitches. I will not buy this again.

Awesome Walking Foot
This thing is fantastic. Pricing was fair (and a good $20 less than my local shop), arrived really quickly and the action on it is surprisingly smooth. Holds together layers and layers without pinning. Best thing going if you need to sew thick layers or tricky fabric types.
