Solid.
This is an inexpensive machine but it has served me very well. It gives me no troubles. Not once has it needed to be serviced. It is not super fast and doesn't have all the bells and whistles of memory machine, but this is a good solid machine.

Nice and easy for this Novice! Love it!
I am a novice at sewing, but this machine made me feel like I knew what I was doing right from the get-go. Easy to wind the bobbin, easy to thread, then push the foot petal and away you go!

Good history.
Our church's sewing ministry has not started using these new machines yet but Janome machines that they already have perform well and that's why they anticipate their use.

Nice for small projects
I bought my Janome about a year ago. I have made 4 quillows with it and have finished a queen sized (cotton) quilt top with it. I am pretty pleased with how it works. Sometimes the thread gets jumbled up while sewing (then it won't go until I hand crank it). It is easy to use, and I have been able to easily figure out how to adjust the thread tension and length. With my quillows, at one point, it had to go through 4 layers of cotton fabric and 2 layers of thin batting and it did just fine (no thread was jumbled up and it trudged on like a trooper). I am happy I got it for my easy projects. Now I am just wishing I would have gotten a machine with more stitching options.

This Janome 2212 is a good value!
This was bought as a replacement for a Singer sewing machine that was nothing but trouble. It came with lots of extras and is a wonderful machine for the money. It is easy to understand and operate. I'm still getting used to it, but I think I love this new Janome!

Better than i expected.
Perfect for me, a beginner! Easy to use in every way. I've been a needleworker for 60 of my 70 years on earth: needlepoint, cross stitch, knitting, smocking, embroidery. But I could never do anything on a machine that didn't end up lopsided. I'm so excited about this one that I've signed up to take sewing lessons at my local quilt shop. I've already made 2 small projects just relying on the ease of the machine, I'm really thrilled there's hope for me yet!

Great beginner or backup machine!
I bought this sewing machine with some of the money we received from our wedding so I could work on becoming more "domestic". I bought it at a local fabric store because they are an authorized Janome dealer which means if anything goes wrong with my machine they will maintain it and it has a great warranty (I think it's around 20 years). It was $250, but I think it was worth it because it also came with free lessons. Anyway, I've sewn several throw pillows and I'm finishing up my very first quilt with it right now and it's worked like a charm. With the right needle and foot it can sew just about anything and I'm using it to do the actual quilting, and not just sew the pieces together on my quilt top. It is handling the flannel, batting and quilt top with ease. You just have to make sure you have a walking foot on the machine (sold separately and probably not on Amazon). This particular machine needs the oscillating walking foot, since the bobbin is upright, and not the horizontal walking foot, which is for drop-in bobbins. When I first bought the machine I did have some problems with it because the top thread kept getting too tight and I didn't have enough tension underneath. Also, I was breaking my thread and having thread jams frequently. I figured out the proper settings for the tension to keep the bobbin thread from getting too loose, and then I tried changing my needle and that stopped the thread getting tight, breaking and jamming! Apparently you're supposed to figure on changing the needle once for every eight hours of sewing, or whenever it seems to be not running quite right. Once I got the tension right and the needle changed, I haven't had a single problem since. This machine isn't very big, so I wouldn't recommend trying to quilt anything bigger than a lap quilt with it (mine is approximately 63"x81" and it's about maxed out. However, if you're like my mom and go to a quilting group every few weeks and don't want to haul your nice, fancy machine out, this is a great option for you to work on piecing.

Exciting Christmas gift.
Bought this for our 14 year old granddaughter for Christmas. After looking up the video on the internet, she figured how to get the bobbin in and machine working. Would be nice to include a video with the machine. Her dad found one on the internet. She is thrilled with it.

I love this sewing machine
I love this sewing machine! It is simple and easy sewing machine for who does not need too many functions. I sewed 8 layers materials and it was running like butter. My former Brother sewing machine could not handle 2-3 layers and eventually broke within 2 years. Their parts are made by plastic and unable to replace.
