IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS
For a machine that can do just plain sewing I chose the Janome 2222 to take back and forth to my quilting club. It is light weight but built solid as a rock. It just gets after it without any glitches. Threads easily and does some decorative stitches. I just can't ask more of it. It also makes it so I can use my heavier Janome 6500 at home. Thank you Janome for the solid construction and a thank you to Amazon for supporting dealers that carry quality sewing machines. Lynne Stevenson

You Can Never Go Wrong With a Good Janome Machine...
I purchased this for my teen daughter who finally decided she wanted me to teach her how to sew. I have a Janome that I love and hasn't failed me yet...BUT my daughter's machine is amazing that I want to upgrade. I runs smoothly, easy to work with. The manual is written clearly and easy to comprehend. My daughter is in heaven and is constantly sewing and learning to quilt. This was a big improvement compared to her Singer sewing machine that was given to her which had her in tears. You can never go wrong with a good Janome machine!!

Love this sewing machine!
I needed to replace my beloved (but old) sewing machine when it finally gave out. I chose this one because it had most of the things that I really liked on my old machine. I am really pleased with it so far. It is a really basic machine. Just your basic regular stitches, plus your basic stretch stitches. The instruction manual is pretty easy to follow. It gives a lot of information. I have been sewing for almost 30 years and I actually learned a few things! Pros: It is very sturdy. I made something for my son that required me to sew through four layers of heavy canvas... Absolutely no problem. Went through it like a hot knife through butter. It is lightweight enough to carry easily when I want to set it up, but has a good solid feel when I'm sewing. It's really quiet. I can sew in the early morning without anyone yelling at me to stop waking them up. It has the spool pin on the top. I like to buy cone thread instead of spool thread since it's so much cheaper, I slip a small spool under the cone to keep it stable and it works great. Machines that have the spool pin on the back don't allow me to do that. I never had an automatic needle threader before and have to say, I love it! It did take me a few tries to figure it out, but now I am hooked! It can use universal needles and bobbins. This is important to me since the closest Janome dealer is two hours away. I wait until my local craft store has a 50% off sale and stock up. I also prefer metal bobbins to the plastic ones that come with the machine. Cons: The light is not the greatest. It illuminates the needle part of the sewing area, but I find that the front of the machine where I am feeding in the fabric is a bit dim. I need to use a small lamp to see it well. The storage area isn't the best design. You can store often needed items in the extension table which is the accessory storage box. The problem I have is that when I pull the box out to change a bobbin, all the stuff I'm storing in there comes flying out. I tried keeping everything in a snack bag which does help. It's easier to just keep all my extra bobbins, needles and tools in a small toolbox nearby. The dust jacket they give is pretty cheap. Invest in a decent sewing machine bag. You won't be sorry. I have to say that both of these cons are only because I was so used to my old machine. It had a light that illuminated well, and a drawer for storage which was fantastic. As far as the quality of the machine goes, I haven't found any flaws. It is a manual machine without any kind of computer, so you can do basic maintenance pretty easily. The face plate comes off with just one screw. The instruction manual gives instructions on where to oil it once or twice a year, depending on how much use it gets. It comes with a small tube of oil. I also use canned air to clean it out weekly, since I sew daily. I clean it with canned air immediately if I am sewing something that creates a lot of fuzz, like fleece, velvet or panne. I want this machine to last a long time so it's worth taking the time to do whatever preventative maintenance I can.

Great Sewing Machine
I mainly purchased this sewing machine since it was Janome brand, had several options for different projects, and a great price. I am using this sewing machine to do light sewing and hemming. I have sewed everything from cotton to denim without any problems. This machine is pretty quite and hassle free. I have not had it knot up or skip a stich. This machine has lots of different stiches and stich length for various projects when I decide to tackle new projects. For the price and options the machine is a great buy.

Nice upgrade!
simple and efficient. very nice sewing machine. The needle threading assist is nice, but takes some getting used to. Being amateurs, we are not using this machine anywhere near it's capabilities. It is reasonably quiet and far smoother than the ancient sewing machine it replaced. Nothing was sacrificed when transitioning to this machine. Recommended.
