classes and travel
Basic, lightweight machine. I tried the stitches that are available and checked the tension they work fine. I bought this to take to quilt classes and to take when we travel and I can quilt. I plan to use this to sew quilt pieces together and did not expect many stiches.

Smooth, well appointed machine
So far, so good. I inherited my mom's New Home, (mine says "New Home" below the Janome logo) weighing in at over 50 pounds, so this one is much easier to tote, should I need to. I'm new at this sewing thing, but it is easy to set up and use, with clear instructions and illustrations and plenty of settings.

Very Good, Basic Machine
I was looking for a basic machine for mending so needed a sturdy, easy to operate machine with solid fundamental functions and not a lot of bells and whistles. So far this one is exactly what I need. Set up was minimal, operation is intuitive. I have used it to mend and hem so far and it works very well. Haven't used the button hole feature and there are more steps to it than there are on more complex machines but that isn't a function I will use very often so the tradeoff for a smaller, simpler and less expensive machine is worth it.

Good for beginners!
I’m a beginner never touched a sewing machine before. I bought this model for its very basic 10 pattern sewing. Setting up took me 1 hours I used YouTube for guidance the manual itself wasn’t enough. I tried all the patterns to test how they will look. So far great!

Great little machine
Just for some history, I'm a very basic sewer (children's clothing, pillows, skirts and dresses for myself) with several years of sewing under my belt. I don't do anything fancy or overly detailed, so I don't need more than a pretty basic machine. In the past I have used the Janome Gem Gold (very good but REALLY basic) and a Brother swing arm machine (hated that thing from the moment I took it out of the box). I came running back to Janome after my experience with the Brother. This little machine is a workhorse. I have sewn countless dresses, jumpers, pajama sets and trousers for my children, along with several skirts and dresses for myself. I've sewn multiple layers of flannel and fleece with absolutely NO problem. The needle is easy to thread, all of the functions are pretty intuitive and the dial is super easy to read (personally not a fan of buttons and digital stuff - more things than can break). The foot is very easy to remove/re-attach when placing a zipper, etc. Once you get the hang of it, the bobbin is easy to install; however, I have had a few issues with thread being a tangled mess right after inserting a new bobbin. This may be my fault, so I'm not taking stars off for this. Also, the bobbin winder can be a bit persnickety (at least on mine) - I have to keep the bobbin in just the right spot for it to wind properly. Again, I'm not exactly an expert so this may well by an error on my part. Aside from a couple of the very minor bobbin issue, I absolutely love this machine and highly recommend it to anyone looking to do basic, straightforward sewing projects. UPDATE: I found that the issue with the bobbin came from the bobbin itself. I had purchased a set of bobbins that purported to work on Janome machines (among others). WRONG. When I went back to the Janome bobbin that came with the machine (quite by accident - it just happened to have the color thread I needed already wound on it) I had absolutely no issues. Be sure to only use Janome bobbins - don't trust other bobbins that claim to work on a Janome machine. :-D

Great little machine
This Janome machine was a good investment. While the features aren't as plentiful as some other models, the machine works very well. I have used it for zippers and oilcloth (even the two together) and it had no problem with either. The only issue I have found is the bobbin tends to get caught up in itself (this could be user error but I am more convinced it's a design flaw). I wish the bobbin design was different (maybe a drop in rather than a shuttle) but other than that this machine has held up very well. The storage compartment in the front is a nice addition. I hadn't sewn in years when I bought this and the instructions were very straightforward and the machine was simple enough for me to use that I have been able to produce several items. It's lightweight and small which makes it easy to store. Pros: works well, is quiet, easy to use, light weight, compact, has extra storage built in, comes with cover and carrying handle Cons: bobbin is frustrating and jams occasionally

Janome 3128 sewing machine
Janome 3128 Sewing MachineI purchased this sewing machine about 2 weeks ago I heard a lot of good things about this sewing machine they are all true. I really LOVE this machine this is my 3rd sewing machine. I sew apron for fun and family gifts. It is a smaller machine don't let that stop you from purchasing this machine it sews as good as a full size machine I have not had any problems with it. I would highly recommended it to everyone.

Great machine
I love janome; I have 3 (2 sewing and 1 serger). This is a great machine, well built and very easy to use, especially for a beginner. It does not jam and runs great. I bought it to give to my daughter for Christmas when she turned 8, but decided to wait until next year. I bought mine used and I have pulled it out several times when I have needed an extra machine.

It was good while it lasted
Unfortunately this machine broke after only a few sewing projects. I thought thread got stuck in the bobbin area, so I tried to clean it out numerous times, but thread just keeps getting tangled when I try to sew, so I'm now looking for a more durable machine. It was good while it lasted. :( Very easy for beginners to use.
