It really helps
Though the wording on the packaging didn't include my machine, a Janome MC9450 QCP, they indeed work well together. This bobbin case really did help my free-motion quilting without having to adjust tension. With the regular bobbin case, my top thread showed through underneath. With this bobbin case, it didn't, with no tension adjustment needed.

Janome bobbin case for free motion quilting
Although my Janome already does well with FMQ, this bobbin case pretty much eliminated the need to fiddle with tension. I tried it on various thread combinations and the Auto tension setting, and did not need to make any adjustments to the top tension on any of my mid weight threads.
