Great machine for the money
This machine is a real workhorse. I worked in a tailor shop for years on a Bernina and fell in love with their machines, but could never afford one. This machine is as easy to use and works as well as a Bernina and I have since found out that Janome makes some of Bernina's machines for them, specifically the Bernette. I just got this machine this week, but I absolutely LOVE it. I have gone through multiple layers of fleece without so much as a hiccup and have also done some finer work on thin cotton material, also without a hiccup. It is a metal arm & base with some plastic parts. Has a storage box right on the front which is handy, and is very easy to change stitches, etc. Definitely worth the money. You won't regret purchasing this machine.

Patience makes the heart grow fonder for this machine
I've been sewing since September 2015. I have a Janome magnolia and I needed something heavier so got an HD 1000 despite all the issues I read about it. When my bobbin started jumping every stitch - I thought it was a fluke and was going to pack it up to return it. But being that I am a noob, i looked at it again and i threaded the bobbin wrong. Once I got this minor detail fixed, it ran super smoothly. Today, I was having another 'bobbin' issue and it turns out that was because the upper part wasn't threaded correctly ( I missed step 5). Then when I corrected that - it's working like a dream now. So yes it can be frustrating, but since I've been able to fix it 2 out of 2 times - I think it's more a user error than a machine error.

Excellent hard working machine !
This machine is a true work horse, I make WWII reproductions (mainly Russian Ushanka hats) and it handles the job wonderfully, With what i've made with this machine it's already paid for it's self. The caps I attached in the image were made of faux fur, Vintage 100% wool, several layers of heavy cotton batting/canvas, and heavy cotton liner. At points I have to sew through almost half an inch of wool while hemming and it glides right through. I would like to get the HD3000 version one day but for now this thing just keeps on going like a champ. Bobbin system is very easy to use too.

Excellent Machine
This machine stiches beautifully. I purchased it for sewing outdoor canvas projects. With a 16 needle and v69 poly thread, the machine sewed through the canvas with ease. I didn't think my computerized machine would be up to the task. I like the extra space the arm of this machine provides, which makes it easier to handle bulkier fabrics. At first, I had trouble with thread jams, but then realized the threading was incorrect. Although this machine doesn't have the number of available stitches as the computerized machine, who really needs that many? I'm quite pleased with the performance and features of the HD1000.

I love the sewing machine
I love the sewing machine. But was not happy to see that it decreased in price by $50 since I purchased it just a few months ago.
