Attaching ribbons and sequins is easy with the help of the special Ribbon/Sequin Foot. Ribbon and sequins can be inserted through a guide on the foot, allowing them to feed through evenly as you sew. Besides affixing the ribbon, a wide ladder stitch can be used with narrow ribbon to make an easy and functional drawstring.

ribbon/sequin foot
I was a little disappointed because the ribbon foot I saw demonstrated on the Janome website showed it being adjustable to use different size ribbons. This foot works well with 1/8" or 1/4" ribbon but nothing wider.
