Sturdy and Reliable
This is a great all around machine. It doesn't have millions of decorative stitches, but I don't l care about that. Give me a sturdy and reliable machine with the stitches that I'll use. This machine has all the stitches that a sewer truly needs and then some. It stitches well and has good power. The foot pedal functionality is great as is the cover. It doesn't come with a knee lift. I don't understand why someone would complain about not getting a knee lift when it's clear that it's not included. A knee lift can be purchased separately, but if you have a knee lift from another machine, chances are that it will work with this machine. I have found the threader to be reliable, but all needle threaders have limitations when it comes to needle and thread size. Reasonable expectations are required. The machine is heavy enough to instill confidence in its ability, but not so heavy to instill dread if you want to move it. I'm not sure you can get any better than this for the price. I have two Juki sergers and I am as impressed by this machine as I am by my sergers.

Great machine! UPDATE
Just purchased this machine not too long ago after a lot of research and I'm very pleased. The machine is everything I was looking for and worth every penny. It sews beautifully and is very quiet for such a fast machine. So far I would say this was an excellent purchase.

Great Machine!! I paper piece quilts and everything feeds thru wonderfully, no tension problems. What a change from my old Singer, I love it. So glad I spent the extra money to get this machine instead of another Walmart machine.

I would like to give this machine a 5 star rating for ...
I would like to give this machine a 5 star rating for the fact that it has a beautiful stitch and seems high quality, I really liked the way it was set up, loved using it, unitl, the bobbin case started ratteling, really loud, only after 8 or so hours of sewing. I tried every trouble shooting step I could find, nothing worked. I sent the machine back and purchased another one of the same style. Same thing, after about 8 hours of sewing a loud rattling in the bobbin case showed up. I sent it back. So sad, it's really a nice machine, I wish this problem would be fixed. I see other buyers have had the same issue.

Everything I wanted and more!
I have been a home sewer and costumer for community theater for many years. With retirement looming, I wanted to upgrade to an computer directed sewing machine. I I did extensive research into all of the best machines (Bernina, Janome, Juki, Singer and Brother) even "test driving" several at a local sewing machine dealer. I was looking for a solid machine, reliable, quiet and able to finesse both delicate and strdy fabric. Of all the mid-range machines, the 300 seemed to have all of the features I wanted for a reasonable price. I have been very pleased with my purchase. Set up was easy...the instruction book is easy to follow with well written instructions and illustrations. The tension is easy to adjust, the automatic threader works every time, and I love the automatic thread cutter. My first project has been a tailored woolen coat. The stitches are beautifully even and the machine handled multiple layres of wool easily and negotiated the slick lining with ease. I suspect that I would have been pleased with any of the other machines I considered, but did not test. This machine, however, is everything I wanted and more. I hope to use it for many years to come.

Love it so far
I haven't had the time to use even a fraction of it's features, BUT I love what I have used. 1) I love the auto needle threader on this one. You literally just have to push the button down and it's threaded. I have a Singer machine with "auto threading" and it takes me 20 tries at least. Not the juki, I thread it first time always. 2) It's a very quiet machine. I love that I can sew at night without waking everybody up. 3) The drop in bobbin is really easy to use. 4) It cuts your thread just by pushing your heel on the back of the presser foot. Another huge time saver.
