Prethreaded, but no thread included
Packing was secure, everything intact. First impression is that the machine is solid (don't let the word "portable" confuse you). There is a slight chemical (machine oil?) smell, which I imagine will fade with time/use. Was surprised to see that the machine came pre-threaded, as I had read from several reviews, but it does not come with spools of thread. In retrospect I was reading between the lines by expecting spools, but in reality--they appear to thread the machine, do a test stitch, then cut the threads and wrap around a knob. I imagine it will be somewhat of a pain to adjust stitch length and knife distance, and these are behind a housing instead of easily accessible knobs. If this is something you would often adjust, the next model up might be a better choice as these adjustments appear to have a more accessible interface. Also bears to mention that it comes as no surprise that previous reviews mention it being stable while sewing--it has suction feet which are strong and pretty hard to release unless you really want them to (I had to use a butter knife to release the suction).
