This is a nice serger for the price
This is a nice serger for the price. I wish I could have gotten on with a closing stitch. Why can't I find a serger, sewing machine, and closing stitch all in one. That would be cool. The next model up is better because it threads easier, I would have liked that one better. Judi servers are the best, I love the honeycomb threading and it always makes a nice serger with easy to switch over to hem.

Easy to use, easy to move, works quickly and without issue.
I have run close to 7000yds of thread through this machine in the last 10 months. I added oil right when I got it and haven't had to do anything since. No complaints at all. It sews quickly, rarely misses a stitch (when it does it is usually a thread issue) and is pretty easy to use. I move this machine around my work area quite a bit and it is no problem to move around. I love that it takes up so little space. The only drawback is that it does not have a basket to catch the waste fabric. I just use a basket from an old machine that died. I recommend this machine.

A dream machine
I had no experience using a serger and bought this based on the reviews. I'd been planning to get a lower end Brother model and I'm so glad I decided to spend a little extra money to get the Juki. This machine is fantastic. It's so easy to use, even for a rank beginner like myself. And don't let the threading scare you, it's so easy to thread...just follow the color coding. The only trick to the threading is that you have to use the tweezers and threading tool on one of the threads to get into the small spaces, but other than that, it's straightforward and simple to thread. It's easy to change from 4 thread to 3 thread to do stuff like a rolled hem or rolled hem with lettuce edge. It's easy to change presser feet as well. It didn't come with other presser feet, but I bought several (elasticator, gathering, blind hem) - the gathering and elasticator feet are so easy to use and work well. I haven't tried the blind hem foot yet - again, the extra feet did not come with the machine, they were optional extra purchases. It's my understanding that sergers are usually noisy - not so, this serger is far quieter than my sewing machine. It runs so smoothly and efficiently. I love this serger so much that I decided to buy a Juki sewing machine as well. This serger made me realize how enjoyable sewing really is - this machine is amazing compared to my regular sewing machine. I highly recommend this serger - you will not be disappointed!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new JUKI!!!
I can't believe how quiet, how smooth this machine works. I am used to a swiss made serger and replaced it with this model of JUKI. I am in love with it. Why did I wait so long?? Directions were easy to follow...threading was a snap and the tension is perfect first time around. I like how the little feet have suction to them and keep the machine in place. This is a top shelf machine....you will be very pleased if you make this purchase, I know I sure am.

Awesome
This is the first serger I have ever bought. I was nervous about buying it without "test driving" it first. I was extremely pleased. I've had this machine for almost a year, and I use it several times a week. This machine does so much more than just serge. You can do a rolled hem, satin stitch rolled hem, lettuce edges, gathering, flat locking, etc... I am so glad I made this purchase. I don't know how I ever sewed without a serger. I would definitely recommend this machine. This book was extremely helpful in learning how to serge: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Serger-Handbook-Chris-James/dp/0806998075/ref=pd_sim_ac_1

I was finally looking to get a personal serger to finalize my sewing studio as I am beginning to launch my own collection and
I am an indépendant fashion designer (I have a 4 year degree in Fashion Design and have been working in the industry for 10 years.) I was finally looking to get a personal serger to finalize my sewing studio as I am beginning to launch my own collection and couldn't find ANY reviews by someone like me. Not that home sewers aren't reliable, I just have different needs - wanting something that would be cheap but efficient, fast and allow me to create professional garments that I can sell/present. I finally found a comparison review on someones blog and decided to go with this machine and it's the best decision I've made in 2014. This machine is compact, lightweight but AMAZING. Even if it weren't this cheap, it would beat other machines. I love everything about it and would recommend it for everyone, beginners and experts. I also recently found out that both of my design TAs from college own the same machine. Couldn't have gotten better reassurance that I made the right decision. Threading can be a hassle on ANY serger but all you have to do is ALWAYS leave your machine threaded. If you want to change threads, just cut near the cone and tie the new thread onto the existing one and run the machine slowly until the threads change. It's an easy trick I learned in school and I hardly EVER have to hand thread this completely.

Sturdy and smooth
I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't had a chance to use it except on one small item before I left for 3 weeks, and I just got back. As far as I can tell, it's very well made and I am very impressed w/ the stitches, they are by far the most professional looking stitch I have ever seen a serger make; very uniform and finished looking. It runs very smoothy w/o the bouncing I was used to w/ my Kenmore. It probably deserves a 5, but I'd like to get to know it better.
