Needs More Efficient Instructions
My biggest complaint with this machine are the instructions. They are written and illustrated for tiny people, and need to be larger with a font of 12 point instead of 8 or 9. I will probably go to a copy machine and enlarge them 30% for reference. I had to take photos of the way it was threaded, having arrived that way, and there is a flaw in one of the illustrations showing the threading of one of the loopers, I can't recall which one. I referred to my photo to correct it. Its a little time consuming and tricky to thread, and they provide much needed tweezers, but I would also get another pair if you have large man fingers like me. I figured that if I turn the machine off, and unplug it for my OCD, then thread either needle first and then insert it, a lot of fumbling can be avoided. They don't really explain how to do all of the stitches like a flatlock, which I found later to be basically a useless stitch. Do not confuse this with the finished flat stitches one finds on commercial underpants and such. The explanations of the other stitches, except for the basic 4 and 3 thread, could have been written more effectively. I haven't tried the 2/3 thread converter, and I may never need it, but it basically removes one of the looper threads for more of a single overcast blanket stitch. The 4 thread is great for swimwear and activewear, but I will probably use the 3 thread for most basic things. After a bit of studying, it makes sense. It runs great so far and is very powerful, but responds well to slower speeds around curves. I found I had to raise and lower the presser foot continually to readjust the fabric, for all curves, and take only a few stitches at a time. It takes a little getting used to the tensioning thing, and around curves the overcasting goes slightly out of alignment. These stitches are usually on the inside, so I can't figure out what the big deal is with appearance. The presser foot adjustment is nice because I hate too heavy of a foot, however, that could have been marked more efficiently because there are basically no numbers or marks for that setting. It all relies on feel and height of the dial. Because I will be sewing mostly knits from patterns with 1/4 seam allowance, the cutter won't get that much wear but on the slight bit that will be shaved before sewn. I had to buy the Janome Coverpro 900cpx machine to add elastic to the waist of active and under garments, and that was a pain. But, for the price of both, it is still less than a much higher end Baby Lock that would do both. At any rate, most of the battle with sewing is getting the piecing to stay together until its sewn aside from the fit of the garment. This machine gets it done more professionally once learned, but be patient and don't get too upset or frustrated because its really the only thing that will sew knits really well, especially the 100% cotton knits with no spandex.

GREAT MACHINE
I BOUGHT THIS MACHINE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, I HAD A RICCAR I HAD BOUGHT IN 1992, IT WAS ONLY A 3 THREAD THAT YOU HAD TO CHANGE THE FEET PLATE FOR ROLL HEM AND OTHER STITCHES, SO I BOUGHT THIS JUKI AND I LOVE IT, I MADE A BABY QUILT AND WHICH WAS PRETTY THICK AND HAD NO PROBLEM, I TOO HAD TO PRACTICE TO THREAD IT, SO I PRACTICED THREADED IT ABOUT 10 TIMES, THE FIRST TIME I SEWED I DIDN'T LIKE IT, BUT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THEADED RIGHT, IT'S A GREAT WORK HORSE, ONE YOU CAN DEPEND ON, IT'S NOT CHEAPLY MADE, YOU CAN GO TO U-TUBE AND LEARN HOW TO THREAD IT, HOW TO USE THE DIFFERENT STITCHES, WHEN I BUY A MACHINE OF ANY KIND IT HAS TO BE A WORK HORSE, CUZ IT HAS TO LAST ME, AND I KNOW THIS MACHINE IT JUST THAT, I CAN'T SEEM TO SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS MACHINE, DO NOT GET DISCOURAGE IF YOU DON'T GET IT THE FIRST TIME, LEARNING TAKES PRACTICE AND TIME. I USUALLY TRY SAMPLES OF WHAT EVER I'M MAKING SO I KNOW I WILL GET THE RESULTS I WANT BEFORE I SEW MY PROJECTS. GOOD LUCK AND I KNOW YOU'LL BE HAPPY WHEN YOU PURCHASE THIS MACHINE

Great serger
I bought this a few years ago to replace a 18 yo Bernette 335. I love it, much easier to thread. The listed price is considerably lower than what I paid & I was happy with my price then. Buy this & you will not be sorry!

various makes and models that work but never realized how I love to serge until I got this one
I had a Ford Pinto, now I have a BMW!! Sewing for over 35 years, never with a new serger, various makes and models that work but never realized how I love to serge until I got this one. Granted, it's one that needs to be threaded and oiled, but that is what I am used to. Runs like a dream.....

power house of a machine
Juki has a good rep so I bought this one. I was use to an old white. I miss the room for my right hand but this machine is powerfull. I have found it on other sites with all the feet cheaper. If you use those, this is a good compact machine. Doesn't travel across the table at high speeds either. Bought a singer professional also with all the bells and whisles, I don't want to haul that one around.

A perfect serger
I've had this machine for over 3 years and use it daily. It handles everything from knits to chiffons to heavy-duty outdoor fabric. Impeccable seams. No tension issues whatsoever. It's tricky to learn to thread the first few times, but everything is color-coded, so it just takes some practice. A great machine--I will never buy any other brand.

Beautiful stitches. Suction cup feet absorb shock making it quiet and stable. Love this machine. Watched U Tube videos on threading and it was very helpful. This was a good purchase.

Good machine
The price I paid on Amazon was almost $200 cheaper than what I would have had to pay locally. I try to buy locally when there is only a slight discrepancy. Love the machine and have used it many times since. Threading is a little difficult but not anymore so than all sergers.

Juki servers are absolutely the best. I tried a brother after my first Juki ...
Juki servers are absolutely the best. I tried a brother after my first Juki serger needed some repairs. The brother serger bounced all over my desk, it didn't give consistent stitching, due to it bouncing the tension disk vibrated. Sent the brother serger back and got another Juki. These servers are absolutely worth the money. Doesn't vibrate nor try to bounce off my desk, nice even and consecutive stitching...only serger I will own from now on.
